Chuppta Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 28, 2026
Overview
Chuppta is an app for planning events with friends: you invite people, they RSVP, and everyone shares a chat and photos for the event. This policy explains what information Chuppta collects, why, and the choices you have. “We” means the developer of Chuppta.
Information we collect
We collect only what the app needs to work.
- Account: your email address, your name, and your password. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider, which stores it in a protected form that we cannot read.
- Profile: a profile photo, if you choose to add one.
- Events: event titles, dates and times (or the date options in a poll), places, descriptions, cover images, guest lists, RSVPs, and invite codes.
- Chat and photos: messages and reactions in an event chat, and photos you add to an event.
- Friends: friend requests and your friends list. Other people can find you by searching for your name.
- Notifications: a device token so we can send you push notifications, your notification preferences, and your time zone so reminders arrive at the right local time.
- Contacts: only if you choose to invite people from your contacts. We read your contacts on your phone to show you a list. The names and phone numbers of the people you pick are used to start a text message from your phone. We do not upload your contact list to our servers.
How we use it
We use your information to run Chuppta and for nothing else.
- To create your account and keep you signed in.
- To show your name and photo to the people you invite and to your friends.
- To deliver invites, RSVPs, chat messages, photos, polls, and friend requests.
- To send push notifications you have turned on: invites, chat, date decided, event reminders, and friend requests.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
We do not sell your information, and Chuppta contains no advertising and no third-party analytics.
Who we share it with
- Other Chuppta users. Guests of an event can see its details, guest list, chat, and photos. Friends and people you invite can see your name and profile photo. Events marked public appear in Discover for anyone using Chuppta.
- Supabase. Our database, sign-in, and file storage are hosted by Supabase, which stores your data on our behalf.
- Expo and Apple. Push notifications are sent through Expo’s notification service and Apple’s notification service. They receive your device token and the text of the notification.
- Legal requests. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Phone permissions
Chuppta asks permission before using any of these, and you can change your answer at any time in your phone’s Settings.
- Notifications: to send invites, reminders, and chat alerts. You can also switch each type on or off inside Chuppta under Settings.
- Contacts: to pick friends to invite by text message.
- Photos and camera: to add pictures to events and to set a profile photo.
- Location: to show how far public events are from you. Your location is used on your phone for this and is not stored on our servers.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app: open Settings and tap Delete my account. This permanently removes your account and everything tied to it: your profile and photo, your friends, your messages and reactions, the photos you posted in any event, and the events you host, including their chats and the photos other guests posted in them. You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing us at the address below.
Children, security, changes, and contact
Children. Chuppta is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security. Data is encrypted while it travels between your phone and our servers, and the database only lets people see events they host or have been invited to, plus public events.
Changes. If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Larger changes will be announced in the app.
Contact. Questions or requests: [email protected].
